About the land we call Idylwild
As we walked along the seasonal stream for the first time in February 2022, we each just knew that this was the place we would call home. Our bodies told us so. Even though that visit to Tennessee was meant to be exploratory, to find out which region we liked the best, we pushed our way through visits to another town the next day but rushed home that evening to put in an offer. Two months later, we were camping on our property with two of our daughters for the first time. And Idylwild was established.
Idylwild is a 78 acre property that includes mostly hilly, second growth forest, a natural spring, and ephemeral stream and a historic cemetery. The land was home to iron ore mining during the civil war but was never developed. The woods include many tree and mushroom species, and magic seems to abound if you sit still and listen. And we can't wait to share this magical, restorative place with YOU!
Right now, we're working on developing the infrastructure of the property. We reside in Illinois full time but visit Idylwild as much as we can before we permanently move there in 2027.
